Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction for Teens (MBSR-T)
An 8-week program to equip teens with emotional resilience.
Many teenagers are living in a near-constant state of pressure and stimulation.
Parents often notice that their teen:
Is easily overwhelmed, snappy, or emotionally reactive
Finds it hard to relax, rest or switch off
Feels disconnected from their body and emotions
Struggles to focus or stay present
Uses screens or busyness to avoid discomfort
If you notice this in your teen, you’re not alone.
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) works from the inside out. Rather than telling teens to “calm down” or “try harder,” it helps them:
Notice what’s happening in their body before emotions or stress
take over
Understand early warning signs of overwhelm
Learn how to pause instead of react
Build awareness of thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations
Regulate their nervous system in simple, practical ways
The MBSR-T program helps teens learn mindfulness skills to better manage stress, regulate emotions, improve focus, and respond to challenges with greater awareness, resilience, and self-compassion: important life skills they will take forward into adulthood.
Fiona is a Professor of Psychology with a PhD in Mindfulness-based research and practice. She has taught mindfulness to adolescents and young adults for over 15 years, in educational and applied settings.
Fiona is trained to deliver Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Mindful Schools and MBSR for Teens (MBSR-T) using the curriculum developed by Gina Biegel. Her teaching is informed by psychological research, developmental science, and direct classroom experience. She is a mindfulness teacher on Insight Timer; her meditations viewed and used by over 12,000 people.
